Cakes from the past ..

So, today I have been trying to dig pictures for the cakes I have done in the past. There are a few cakes from the pre-digital era which are somewhere in the picture boxes, but here are the others I found.

August 2006
My precious turned one! The first cake ever I made for a party of more than 70 people. It wouldn't have been possible without the love and support of my dear husband and my sister!

August 2007
The following year.. the theme was Nemo ...

I also made the bags for return gifts ...
August 2008

By the third birthday, it was Dora all over the place. The strawberry cake was a quick fix for her birthday.
The party cake was a 2-tier Dora cake.

And the bags for return gift were handcrafted by me :)
Time to sleep now ! Thanks for stopping by!

Fondant cakes - Part 2 ...

Here are the cakes I did for kids birthdays.

BLOCKS CAKE - May 2010
This first one was for my daughter's birthday. it took a lot of time to decorate each cube. These were made out of a 9x13 sheet cake. Each big cube is 3x3x3 and the smaller one is 2x2x2. It was a pineapple cake with pineapple chunks and buttercream filling.

3-TIER CAKE - May 2010
Then I very courageously decided to make the cake for the birthday party as well. I made a 3-tier cake with 10", 8" and 6" cakes. The 10" was a chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream, 8" was a pineapple cake with custard filling and the 6" was a half chocolate half pineapple with strawberry preserve filling. The time and effort put in the cake was well worth it !

PRINCESS CAKE- Aug 2010
My older one wanted a princess cake for her 5th birthday. She was dressing up as Belle for her princess party, and that's what my cake was for her. I did it in the night and it was priceless to see her eyes beam in the morning to see the cake exactly what her dress looked like :)
The little hearts in the front was where the candles were put !

BIRD CAKE- Sep 2010

This cake was for a very dear little girl who turned 2. She loves birds and that was what the cake was designed with in mind. It was a 2-layer eggless cake, one layer was chocolate and the other was orange cake. The birds are all edible and made of fondant.

I hope you enjoyed looking through all these!

Smiles and Cheers!!!

Fondant cakes - Part 1 ...

Haven't got a chance to update, so here's a quick one. I would like to share a few cakes I have done the past.

This cake was my first try at a fondant cake. A cute gift box, and I love the lavender color.

The second one was a two tier cake and I just made it with flowers and petals.

I got a chance to make the cake for friends' birthday. it was a surprise for her and we celebrated her Birthday at a vacation home. it was an excellent trip and we had a lot of fun. I tried my hand at the orange cake and it came out really good.

Festive season :)

Its time you can feel the holidays in the air. I haven't been able to update anything since I spent too much time cooking the delicacies for Diwali. Apart from the traditional Indian sweets and snacks, I did a cake for Diwali as well. In the wee hours of the night after the Poojan, this is what I came up with.

It was an eggless chocolate cake, with white buttercream icing and strawberry preserve filling. This icing was liked better than the older ones I have done, because it was all butter. It was a little tough to manage but I knew that once done it would stay put since it was getting colder outside :)
The decorations are all edible and made of fondant !
I hope you all had a wonderful time with friends and family, and so did I !
Looking forward to more festivities and the holidays! I'll be trying to post more often!
